Massed Start Debut: 1956 Tour of Luzon

In the inaugural 1956 Tour of Luzon, Geruncio Lacuesta, Executive Secretary and Race Manager of the Philippine Cycling Association, introduced the massed start—a significant departure from the staggered start used in the previous year’s Manila-to-Vigan Race.

Additionally, he unveiled the “Yellow Jersey” as a badge of honor for lap winners, reserving the color exclusively for those who achieved a lap victory.
