After winning an unprecedented four championships in the national cycling tour, Santy Barnachea, 49, is poised to make history in the MPTC Tour of Luzon 2025 as the second oldest cyclist to compete in the fabled endurance cycling classic.

Currently listed as a MPT DriveHub reserve, Barnachea—a seasoned tactician—could still be called to race, and his presence may shift the dynamics of the competition.
Back in 1974, Mapandan, Pangasinan pride Mamerto Eden—grand champion of the 1958 Tour of Luzon—set the record as the oldest cyclist to compete in the Tour of Luzon-Visayas, joining its 15th edition at age 51.
