Mervin Corpuz’s Affinity For Lingayen Stage

Did you know that Mervin Corpuz is a home-course hero who consistently shine in a place familiar to him like Lingayen, Pangasinan.

The capital town of Pangasinan is Mervin Corpuz’s backyard. He is a local specialist of this familiar stretch. This is evident in a handful of podium finishes he mostly achieved in his cycling career record when national tours were staged in Lingayen.

In fact, his first national cycling podium finish took place in Lingayen when he placed third after El Joshua Cariño and Daniel Ven Cariño during stage 3 (Bambang, Nueva Vizcaya to Lingayen, Pangasinan) at Le Tour de Filipinas 2018.

After this milestone, it was a long wait—7 years to be exact—before Corpuz found his way onto the podium again at the MPTC Tour of Luzon 2025. Two of his three podium finishes collected at the MPTC Tour of Luzon were staged in Lingayen: Stage 6 (Clark-Lingayen) and Stage 7 (Lingayen-Labrador). Now you know, his affinity for Lingayen stage is remarkable—it’s no coincidence.
