Until now, the length of the Herculean Baguio-Baguio Killer Lap has remained debatable.
A 1987 newspaper tabloid published a race route totaling 249 km—exceptionally long for the said single mountain stage and an unsanctioned local event.
However, during the last edition of the Marlboro Tour in 1998, the distance was listed as 199.7 km in a local newspaper.
Perhaps, it had something to do with the UCI taking over the last two editions of the fabled Marlboro Tour and aiming for standardization, which required precise measurement, like calibrated GPS or cycling computers.

Despite the contention over its official distance, Baguio-Baguio has remained a legendary Killer Lap that the Philippines ever had.
