The ever-resurgent underdog, Mervin Corpuz, is seemingly filled with hope and aspirations.
A former trackster and a national cycling team member back in 2017, Corpuz immediately transitioned to professional cycling that same year.
The Umingan stalwart had attended a total of three (3) LBC Ronda Pilipinas editions under the banners of different cycling teams, such as, Team Franzia Wine, 7-Eleven Road Bike Philippines and Excellent Noodles Cycling Team.

On the other hand, his most memorable achievement was in Le Tour de Filipinas, where he shone in his home province, copping a podium finish in 2018, alongside fellow Pangasinan riders, El Joshua and Daniel Ven Cariño. After that, it took him seven years to land on a podium again.
In the MPTC Tour of Luzon 2025—a climactic point in his career—Corpuz managed to get three (3) podium finishes and bagged the sprint (points) classification overall championship title.
At just 28, Mervin Corpuz is far from being ‘too late to be the hero’ in his quest for a national championship title. He may have been a broken warrior yesterday but he may be a gladiator tomorrow.
After all, his former teammate, Jan Paul Morales, a former trackster like himself, captured his first national crown at 30.
