The two, Jazy Fernandez Garcia and Darius Villaseñor, the past and the future, are sons of former gritty riders in the national cycling tour.
Similarly, they burst onto the national cycling scene at the age of 17 in different eras. Garcia, an elite athlete of international caliber, was a three-time national cycling champion in Guam decades back, while Villaseñor was a two-time national champion in the Philippines.
In 2024, the guy on the rise, Villaseñor, stunned the field—a mix of crack riders—when he clinched the Tour de Vizcaya championship.
His relentless drive and domination persisted as the vice-leader, Villaseñor, pulled away beyond recall in a crucial ascent in Sitio Baag, leaving a pack of chasers almost 3 minutes adrift, during last month’s Larga Pilipinas Pro-Elite race.

Meanwhile, the two-time Guam Olympian, Jazy Garcia, continues the legacy of the Garcias as a generational cycling mentor.
