We mourn the loss of another legendary cyclist, Paquito Rivas, the 1979 Marlboro Tour champion and four-time Burgos to Baguio ITT winner, thus earning his moniker “Eagle of the Mountain.”
Sgt Rivas passed away due to a subdural hematoma on January 4, 2026, at 11:28 AM at the Veterans Memorial Medical Center.
His body will lie in state at the Libingan ng mga Bayani (Fort Bonifacio, Taguig) from January 6 to 9, 2026, with public viewing starting at 3:00 pm on the first day. Interment will be on January 10, 2026.
