Coming from a pedigree of cyclists, Mark Arvin E. Armendez was a legend in his own right and is considered the youngest Pangasinan national champion. His grandfather, Tranquilino Armendez, was a former Tour of Luzon cyclist with the Ilocandia Team.
At the tender age of 11, Mark Arvin achieved notable gold and silver medals on the national stage.

His breakout achievement came in 2018 when he impressively amassed five medals—two golds in MTB and three silvers in road racing—at the Batang Pinoy 9-11 category in Baguio City.
After the pandemic-induced cancellation of sporting events in 2020, Armendez returned to the scene with a fresh start, claiming a gold medal in the Batang Pinoy 14-15 road race in Vigan. The subsequent year, 2023, elevated him to ‘back-to-back’ champion status.

Filipino cycling fans mourned his passing on January 22, 2026. His untimely demise has sent shockwaves through the entire cycling community.
