For the first time in nearly 10 years with Go For Gold Cycling, 26-year-old team captain and national road race standout Jericho Lucero is leaving to fly the colors of the green tribe—Victoria Sports Pro Cycling (VSPC).

The exodus of formidable climbers and General Classification (GC) riders from Go For Gold—including three-time national champion Jonel Carcueva, Ronnilan Quita, and Jaypee Olarte—has severely eroded the team’s capabilities in the ascents, leaving only experienced Conti rider Lucero and amphibious Montemayor at the helm.
As confirmed by Lucero, Go For Gold Cycling will revert to its club team status next year, in concurrence with his opening season with VSPC.
This turn of events is a true game-changer for the Philippine cycling scene—and the blockbuster transfer, set to face his former home, that has become the talk of the peloton.
